BDCHS: There's still time to donate!
BDCHS Families: We look forward to seeing our students back on campus tomorrow (9/30). If you have been impacted by the hurricane that will impede on your students attendance, please email attendance@bdchs.org so we are aware. This Friday will also be changed to a regular bell schedule full school day and it will be a gold day.
BDCHS Families: We hope everyone is well and taking the precautions needed as we wait for weather to improve. Due to the ongoing impact of Hurricane Helene and out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to keep the school closed through **Friday**. The safety of our students, families, and staff is our top priority during this time.
Please stay tuned for further updates, and continue to follow safety protocols as advised by local authorities. We will communicate any additional information regarding the reopening of school and any adjustments to the academic schedule as soon as possible.

In order to encourage positive mental health, BDCHS students participated in ACT Now! class sessions with Student Services personnel. The focus of these sessions is to define mental health,
recognize symptoms that may be exhibited by those who are facing mental health challenges, share healthy
coping strategies, identify trusted adults, and receive information regarding local and national resources.
“ACT” in ACT Now! stands for:
A = Acknowledge signs that the student or a peer may be in need of mental health support
C = Demonstrate Care in interactions
T = Tell a trusted adult (school personnel, parents, and others)

BDCHS Families: We want to provide you with an important update regarding the tropical system expected to impact our area by Wednesday evening. According to the latest information from county emergency management officials, our region may experience sustained winds and potential flooding that could affect the ability of students and staff to safely travel to and from school.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority. As a result, we have made the decision to close BDCHS on Wednesday (9/25) and Thursday (9/26).
We will update you about our plans for reopening on Friday once we have more clarity on the storm’s path and receive further guidance from emergency management officials and Hillsborough County Public Schools. To clarify, extracurricular activities are still on as scheduled for this evening. However, all athletic events and extracurricular activities for Wednesday and Thursday have been canceled.
We encourage everyone to review their family’s emergency preparedness plans and stay safe during this time. As a reminder, BDCHS is not a designated storm shelter.

Students in Ms. Spivey's Forensic Science 2 spent several days meticulously applying the steps for excavating remain from an archaeological site.
TEACHER SPOTLIGHT: We are so thrilled to announce that Mr. Brian Fimbel, our wonderful Math Dept. Head has been awarded the 2024 Noyce Master Teaching Fellowship at the University of South Florida!
The project is entitled: Mechatronics Integrated into STEM Teaching for Transformative Inclusive Communities. It will allow the educators to earn a master's degree while simultaneously training for and earning credentialing in Mechatronics education.
Mr. Healey, who nominated Fimbel said, "There is no one better than Mr. Fimbel to pursue this exciting opportunity and I am so proud of the exceptional work that he does everyday with our students. I would also like to thank Dr. Stephanie Arthur, Assistant Professor, Science and STEAM methods at USF for bringing this program to Hillsborough County."
