Phoenix Families: We greatly appreciate your support and can't thank you enough for your generous donations to this year's Phoenix Fund. Thus far, we have raised $26,495, which is slightly more than half of our goal. We are very excited about the monies raised and how it will help our students grow and learn. We understand that Hurricane Helene and Milton have placed significant hardships on your homes, families, and finances. At this time, PAC would like to shift our focus to helping those in need after these recent storms. We plan to leave the campaign open until November 1st for those that may still want to donate. If you or your family is in need of assistance, please reach out to our guidance counselors on ways we may be able to help.

Picture Make-Up Day 10/21!
Students can get a retakes/make up for the following reasons:
-They were absent or new since on picture day.
-They purchased a package and are returning their photos for a new photo.
-They planned to purchase and were unsatisfied with their photos, and have a note from parents granting permission to retake.
(Retakes will replace the original. You are not given both photos, just the last/new photo taken. )
Senior Panoramic Photo will be taken on 10/21 at 9:30am in the gym.
Phoenix Families: BDCHS will reopen tomorrow, October 16th. We understand that some roads may still be impacted, so please exercise caution during your commute. To accommodate this, we will extend the morning arrival time and adjust tardy policies to ensure students arrive safely.
The end of the first quarter has been moved to October 25th, and we will provide updates about makeup days as soon as decisions are finalized. Additionally, Homecoming Dance has been rescheduled for December and a date will be announced shortly.
We look forward to seeing our students back on campus tomorrow!

We hope everyone is safe and well in the aftermath of Hurricane Milton. Our thoughts are with all of you as you recover from the storm’s impact.
Due to street flooding and power outages in our community, BDCHS will remain closed through Monday. While our school building is ready to reopen, we understand that many families are still working to get back on track and restore a sense of normalcy.
We are aiming to reopen on Tuesday, but we will continue to monitor the surrounding conditions over the coming days. A final decision regarding Tuesday’s reopening will be made on Monday, and we will keep you informed with any updates.

BDCHS Families: Due to Hurricane Milton and its anticipated effects on our community, BDCHS will remain closed through Friday, October 11. If additional closures are necessary due to the storm, we will promptly notify all families.
All extracurricular activities and athletic events are also canceled during this time.

Phoenix Families: Tropical Storm Milton is expected to intensify into a very strong hurricane. In preparation, BDCHS will be closed from Monday through Wednesday to prioritize the safety of our students, staff, and community. If evacuation becomes necessary, HCPS will be opening shelters. Please stay informed by following local news for further announcements and updates.

Teacher of the Year: Mr. Alex Crenshaw- Musical Arts
The Teacher of the Year award recognizes outstanding teachers who have been nominated by their school site for their dedication to the academic achievement of their students.
Ida S. Baker Diversity Educator of the Year: Coach Areon Atkinson- PE, Dept. Head
Ida S. Baker was the first African-American to serve as Deputy Superintendent in the Florida Department of Education. She was known for her efforts to support underserved students and encourage academic success.
Instructional Support Employee of the Year: Mrs. Leilani Warbritton- Office Manager
Instructional support personnel are recognized for ensuring students and schools have the proper care and services available to promote an enriched and safe environment. Mrs. Warbritton was also recognized last year!
