We are especially proud to highlight the legacy of Rubin Eugene Padgett Sr. (1930–2020) a pioneering Tampa businessman, community leader, and the first African American elected to the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners, whose advocacy expanded resources in underserved neighborhoods and advanced equitable local governance; his legacy continues at BDCHS through his great‑grandson, Jeremiah Padgett, one of our students.

This year’s showcase features an incredible collection of ceramic pieces, paintings, and traditional African Senufo drawings, created by our talented AP Art, Ceramics, and Painting students. We’re excited to share that Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate High School has once again earned GOLD status on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll! Only 7% of eligible schools across the U.S. and Canada received this honor, and BDCHS is one of them! This recognition highlights our commitment to rigorous coursework, college readiness, and expanding access to AP opportunities.
How our students earned this achievement:
✨ College Culture: 68% of students took at least one AP exam — GOLD
✨ College Credit: 49% scored a 3+ — GOLD
✨ College Optimization: 27% took 5+ AP exams (including one in 9th/10th grade) — PLATINUM 🏆
