Forensics student dissects banana

Recently in Forensics classes, a big surprise awaited the students, a

banana!? In a wonderful activity, Mrs. Spivey provided a clean, more

engaging, alternative for an autopsy by using bananas as the patients. “I

think they had a lot of fun and it’s great to see the surprise on their faces

when they cut open the banana.” Commented Mrs. Spivey “It’s a great way

for forensics students to do an autopsy instead of a worksheet. I’ve done

this two times so far and each time has always been a blast.” One forensics

student in particular remarked enjoying engaging in the material and group

project, saying “I enjoyed my role as ‘assistant’ ... the experience reflected

what we had learned in class in the week leading up to the autopsy”.
